Legendary rock artists Robert Plant and Eddie Vedder joined Roger Daltrey onstage at London’s Royal Albert Hall to perform the Who’s classic hit “Baba O’Riley” as the grand finale for the annual Teenage Cancer Trust benefit on Sunday. This year’s event featured a lineup of big names, including Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Squeeze, Saving Grace (with Plant), the Who, and Vedder.

Pete Townshend was scheduled to perform at the “Ovation” concert but could not attend as he had to head to New York for the Broadway reopening of Tommy. However, Daltrey opened his set with a powerful cover of Townshend’s “Let My Love Open the Door,” setting the stage for the unforgettable performance that culminated in “Baba O’Riley.”

You can watch video footage of the performance on below, and it’s highly recommended that you give it a listen.

At the end of the electrifying rendition of “Baba O’Riley,” Daltrey delivered a heartfelt tribute to the “unsung heroes” of the event and shared his thoughts on the importance of the Teenage Cancer Trust, as he ended his 24-year tenure as its curator.

“I’m not going away from the Teenage Cancer Trust,” he announced. “I’ve completed the job I set out to do. We’re gonna get curators to do a year rather than try and do another 20 years. Talk about nerve-racking. But I’ve got other work to do for the charity that is more important, because we live in a day where our NHS [National Health Service], everyone knows, is very questionable — even surviving. We are part of that service, though we are a charity. … If the NHS goes down, I want to make sure this charity doesn’t go down with it.”

This event was among the many fundraising initiatives organized by the Teenage Cancer Trust, whose main goal is to help children and young adults with cancer. The charity has helped thousands of teens, providing emotional and practical support throughout their cancer journey.

As music fans, let us join hands to support the Teenage Cancer Trust and its causes. It is indeed a heartwarming experience to witness such musical icons come together to raise awareness and help people in such difficult moments, as they truly exemplify the spirit of positivity and hope amidst trying times.
